Moving into accommodation

Front door

Congratulations on receiving a place to study at Anglia Ruskin and an offer to live in student accommodation at:

  • Student Village in Chelmsford
  • Anastasia House
  • CB1
  • Peter Taylor House
  • The Railyard
  • Sedley Court
  • Swinhoe Hall
  • YMCA
  • University shared houses.

You’ll be able to collect your keys and move in from the start date given on your offer of accommodation email. This is also the start date of your occupancy agreement with us.

If you’re going to be living in a property that is not managed by Anglia Ruskin, the managing agents will contact you directly about start dates.

Before you arrive

Before you move into your new home, please make sure that you’ve:

  • paid any advanced rent payments or deposits
  • set up recurring web payments (Anglia Ruskin managed properties only, this should happen automatically when you pay your advanced rent payment)
  • completed an online accommodation induction. This will be available via the accommodation portal where you booked your accommodation within a month of your contract commencement date (except for students living at The Railyard, who will be contacted separately).

Wondering what you’ll need to bring with you? Check our page What’s in the room and what to bring for more information.

We email all our students asking them to complete an online accommodation induction before moving in to university accommodation. You’ll be able to book a date and time (approximately) you wish to arrive. We’ll then have your keys and a parking space ready for you on the day.

If you’re having any trouble booking your arrival date, please contact us.

Register for internet access at Anastasia House, Peter Taylor House, Swinhoe Hall, Collier Road, University shared houses, and our Student Village before you move in so you’re online from the moment you arrive. Just click to get started if you live in any of our Halls or Collier Road. The link for other University Houses will be coming soon.

Arriving early

Your room is available from the start date given in your offer of accommodation letter. If you’re arriving before this date, you’ll need to arrange a place to stay. Our bed and breakfast, hotel and apartment listings for Cambridge and Chelmsford have details of places to stay - or you can search online for other options in Cambridge and Chelmsford

Where to collect keys

Once you’ve completed your online induction, we’ll let you know where to collect your keys.

When you come to collect the keys, please bring a form of personal identification such as a passport or driving licence. We can’t issue keys unless you have this.

Arriving by car?

There’s free car parking for up to one hour in designated areas – details will be in your online induction. After this time, you can use public car parks nearby in Cambridge and Chelmsford.

Our campus pages have more information about travelling to Cambridge and travelling to Chelmsford, along with campus maps.

International students

We organise an Orientation Programme for international students coming to Anglia Ruskin for the first time. It includes campus and city tours, and useful information about living in the UK.

Don't forget to check our What you need to know web pages before travelling. You can also contact us if you have any questions.

Have a safe journey; we look forward to meeting you.
