Writtle University College and ARU have merged. Writtle’s full range of college, degree, postgraduate and short courses will still be delivered on the Writtle campus. See our guide to finding Writtle information on this site.

Career development

As a member of our Alumni Network you can take advantage of careers support and discounts on postgraduate study.

Careers support

ARU alumni have lifelong access to professional careers support through the Alumni Career Centre; your dedicated online service available 24/7 and packed full of useful resources to help you secure your graduate role and support you throughout your career. We’re here for you every step of the way.

Sign in to the Career Centre as an alumni or email [email protected] to sign up for an account.

If you studied at ARU London, please email [email protected] to sign up for an account.

Alumni can continue using Handshake after graduating too. Handshake is a platform that provides students and graduates with the opportunity to network with employers, learn from peers who have previously studied on the same course as you, and gain access to virtual and on-campus career events.

Instead of your ARU credentials, you'll log in with your personal email address. To access Handshake, visit joinhandshake.co.uk, choose "Sign in with your email address," enter your personal email (not aru.ac.uk), and set a password if your email is already linked to your account. If your email isn't connected to your record, complete the registration process, and your account will be activated.

For any login issues, contact [email protected] for assistance.

Postgraduate study at ARU

Many of our graduates are eligible for an Alumni Scholarship when starting a postgraduate taught course or a research programme at ARU.

The best bit is that there's no need to apply – if you meet the eligibility criteria you'll automatically receive this scholarship.

Continuing professional development

Enhance your professional skills and knowledge with one of our short courses.

Part-time and distance learning courses

We deliver part-time courses and offer a range of flexible options, including distance learning and work-based study. These can be ideal if you're juggling work, family and childcare commitments, but want to gain the expertise you need to take your career further.

Anglia Ruskin Enterprise Academy (AREA)

If you graduated within the last three years, you can still take advantage of our student enterprise support offer.

Our programmes, activities, and events include:

  • Expert assistance and skills building for entrepreneurs, freelancers, and self-employment seekers.
  • Opportunities to hear from guest speakers and network.
  • Access to the AREA CoLab on our Cambridge campus – a collaborative co-working space designed for students and graduates to exchange and develop ideas.

If you graduated more than three years ago and have an interest in entrepreneurship, you can still sign up for Inside AREA magazine or join The Entrepreneurs' Community, which brings together, and offers resources for, ARU students, recent graduates, alumni, and staff who aspire to be entrepreneurs, innovators or changemakers.
