If you’re going to be a first year student studying nursing, midwifery or operating department practice at our Cambridge Campus, you can apply to live in Harston House at Addenbrooke’s Hospital.
Harston House has 240 bedrooms. 72 bedrooms are available for ARU students which are arranged in corridors of 12-14 rooms.
Each bedroom has a single bed, a desk with drawers, a chair and a wardrobe with drawers. There’s also a sink with mirror and light.
You’ll be responsible for cleaning your own room.
There’s a security entry phone in every room.
Most corridors have two bathrooms with showers, one shower room and two toilets.
Internet is available through a company called Keysurf. You can choose from speeds of 2, 10 or 20 Mbps.
You’ll share a large kitchen with 12-14 others and have a lockable cupboard for your own food. Some corridors have an extra, smaller kitchen.
All the kitchens have a fridge/freezer, cooker, kettle and microwave.
You’ll be responsible for cleaning communal areas.
Addenbrooke's Hospital is 2.5 miles from Anglia Ruskin’s Cambridge campus, where you’ll have your lectures.
Lots of bus routes stop at Addenbrooke’s, including a Park and Ride service. This is a good way to get to campus – journey times are about 30 minutes. Some buses go to Cambridge railway station (less than two miles away) which has regular trains to London King’s Cross.
Bicycle racks and car parking are available at Addenbrooke’s.
Complete our hospital accommodation application form, and send it back to us by post or email (details are on the form). We’ll check that you’re eligible and send your form on to Sanctuary Housing Services Ltd (SHSL).
You’ll be offered accommodation for one academic year.
There’s high demand for hospital accommodation so we can’t guarantee a room. We suggest you apply as soon as you’ve firmly accepted a course offer.
