Anglia Ruskin signs a Memorandum of Understanding with Polish university group
Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) is strengthening ties with Merito Universities Group, the largest private university group in Poland.
ARU and Merito Universities Group have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to formalise the relationship. Senior figures from Merito Universities Group including the Vice President, Maciej Kolasiński, and President of the Research Federation, Marcin Kalinowski, visited ARU in October, while the Vice Rector from WSB Merito University in Poznan, Olaf Żylicz, visited ARU this month.
Merito Universities Group is a group of five private universities with 11 campuses across Poland and a student body of over 100,000. The first university in the group, located in Poznan, was founded in 1994, while the latest member, the University of Lower Silesia, joined in 2018. The group also founded the first Research Federation in Poland.
With campuses in cities including Warsaw, Gdansk, and Wroclaw, each WSB Merito University is an individual entity, with its own rector and senate, but the five universities work together on important issues, such as their research strategy.
ARU and Merito Universities Group discussed the potential for research collaboration, student and staff exchange, and course development, including a potential new MBA aimed at managers based in Poland.
Dr Mark Norrish, Pro Vice Chancellor (International & Partnerships) at ARU, said:
“In addition to exploring how we might design and deliver a new joint MBA programme, we are investigating research activities, including joint participation in international projects, as well as staff and student visits and exchanges for the purposes of research, studying and teaching.”
