Our English Language Skills (General English) Course enables you to improve all aspects of your English language, whether you are looking to improve your English for the workplace, for further study, or to give you greater confidence in social situations.

The English Language Skills course preparation class is a part time programme and comprises of three hours per week for 4, 8 or 12 weeks. You can do this as a standalone course or before an IELTS Preparation course, to improve your general English skills before targeted work on exam strategies.

The course will help you develop more effective English for work, study, global communication or general use whatever your context.

The course content includes the following:

  • Improving your accuracy and range of grammar
  • Developing vocabulary and word use
  • Writing better
  • Speaking with confidence
  • Improving clarity and confidence with pronunciation
  • Developing your reading and listening skills

During the course, you will participate in a range of activities and tasks that will enable you to work on all four skills using real life language. You will develop confidence in your use of authentic language and receive useful feedback that will help you improve each area of language as needed. The tutor will also set additional work for you to complete outside the lessons including online tasks. You will have access to our online learning materials in order to support you further and can also make use of our 24 hour library and computer suite.

This course is a good option if you wish to improve your English skills and level for proficiency exams such as the Cambridge First or Advanced Certificate.

The cost of the course includes the tuition fee and some course materials. The tuition fee does not include any text books. Before the start of the course we will send you a list of suitable text books for the course.

If you are unsure of your level please contact us and we can organise an entry test prior to your first class.

If you would like to take the English language Skills course as a stand-alone course we recommend that you take 8 or 12 weeks of English if you have IELTS 3.5-4.0 to achieve the best outcome.

Once we have received your application form you will be sent an offer letter by email. You will need to return the acceptance slip and pay for the English Language Skills course in full.

Before the start of your programme we will send you instructions on registering for the course and your course timetable.

You should be aged 18 or over at the start of this course.

The English Language Skills course is suitable for anyone with a lower-intermediate level of English or above (IELTS 3.5 – IELTS 7.0). If you are unsure of your level please contact us and we can arrange an assessment.
