English Language Proficiency Test (ELPT)

Our English Language Proficiency Test (ELPT test) gives evidence of your English level, so that you can apply to study at Anglia Ruskin University.

Regular tests are offered at our Cambridge and Chelmsford campuses. We also occasionally offer tests at our Peterborough campus.

See available test dates and book online.

You can pay for the test using our online store.

The English Language Proficiency Test (ELPT) has been developed to evaluate your level of English for academic study on a foundation/pathway, undergraduate or postgraduate course. It is accepted by our University as proof of your English level, so it can be used to support your student visa application.

We also hold the ELPT overseas. To check if this test is held in your country, please visit our country pages.

The ELPT has been designed to evaluate your level of English for academic study. The test consists of four sections and you will be given a mark for each of these sections, as well as an overall mark. All the components will be taken on the same day and the test should take approximately 3-4 hours to complete.

This test can be used when applying for an undergraduate or postgraduate course at ARU, or when applying to study a foundation/pathway course at ARU College.
