My experience of the Pre-departure competition

Kimberly Kim's life in Cambridge has been amazing, she has met so many new friends from all around the world and learned brand new cultures too.

At ARU, we have so many different events every month and every single one of them is so much fun! One of the events (or competitions) that I participated in was the Pre-departure competition. It was so easy and fun to participate, it showed your journey from your home to the university.

About the competition

In the video, you can include saying goodbye to friends and family, boarding your flight, your journey from the airport to university, how you are welcomed at ARU, arriving in your accommodation and meeting your housemates, international orientation week, and anything else along the way! Also, you must include a brief description of you and the course that you will be studying. I think it is a good way to meet new incomings to ARU too. Who knows, you might talk in advance with your future best friends?!

Experience Cambridge

Since I am from South Korea, I took bits and bobs of my travel from Korea to Cambridge. It was not only for making the video but also for the memory. (And that is why you should all try it!) The moments of waiting on the bus, eating Korean food for the last time in Incheon Airport, arriving at Cambridge, and going jogging for the first time in Cambridge, are such wonderful things to remember! Just by capturing each moment, I made a fun video and tagged the ARU international account. I watched my video repeatedly because all the clips from the video were such a memorable time!

Why it was fun to enter

It was also fun to watch what other students came up with in their videos, I could see the happiness, nervousness, and excitement just from the short videos. Appreciatively, I won first place and could be a part of DSA due to this award! I couldn’t be happier. This is a chance to show your talent and share lovely seconds with everyone.
