eFrame - focusing on the details of the photography industry

Photographic supplies company eFrame recently welcomed a group of our 3rd Year Photography students and Course Leader Kerstin Hacker to their headquarters in Cambridgeshire.

With the students currently in their last year of University, the company wanted to offer advice on framing options for their final year exhibition and to show them how eFrame could help support their future career path. John Peal, Business Development Manager at eFrame, describes how the visit helped the students understand some important, and often overlooked, details of the photography industry.

"At eFrame, we’re always more than happy to accommodate visits by students, and the wider community too. We provide bespoke solutions for professional and aspiring photographers alike, making it easy and affordable to have their photos digitally printed and framed in gallery-standard picture frames. I was on hand to showcase the quality of the print, showing how the technology we use can bring digital pictures to life as originally intended.

"I led the students on a tour, beginning with a detailed demonstration of the website, which helped showcase the product options available for their final exhibitions.

"Having demonstrated how the website works and how it can help with student projects, I fielded a variety of questions from the aspiring photographers on how eFrame could support their future photographic ambitions. After this, it was time for them to discover the mechanics of the business, and see the busy factory in operation.

"The tour provided a snapshot of the sizeable operation behind our company, the country’s biggest picture framer, allowing the students to witness the day to day operation as our team created frames and fitted prints. This gave them an important insight into the attention to detail required with all orders, large and small.

"The students then watched as the latest batch of images loaded from the RIP (raster image processor) software emerged from the printers ready to be fitted. I explained to them the differences between the Epson and Hahnemühle paper types, advising which papers to use in which circumstances and for various subjects.

"Seeing the attention to detail and the quality of the prints really reinforced to the students just how easy it is for anyone to print and frame their photos to a professional standard using eFrame. We try to take the stress out of preparing for a show or setting up a business by allowing the photographer to focus on the all-important art of taking fantastic photos.

"After wrapping up the tour and fielding more questions, I told the students about the special discount available for them on our store. We hope they found their visit to eFrame extremely helpful, and can’t wait to support their upcoming exhibitions."
