Two Cambridge School of Art students shortlisted for prestigious award

We’re delighted to announce that two Cambridge School of Art students have made the shortlist of the Penguin Design Awards 2021.

Kata Kocsispeter (BA (Hons) Illustration) was named in the Non Fiction Cover category, while Loredana Burdo (BA (Hons) Graphic Design) was selected for the Fiction Cover Award. Both are up against a field of nine other students in their category.

The Penguin Student Design Award aims to ‘discover and nurture the next generation of design and illustration talent’. The competition is open to anyone studying on a Further Education or Higher Education course – part time or full time, in any subject and at any level.

This year, the brief for the Non Fiction Award was to design a cover for The Uninhabitable Earth by David Wallace-Wells, while Meera Syal’s Life Isn't All Ha Ha Hee Hee was the subject for the Fiction Award.

BA (Hons) Illustration Course Leader Chris Draper said: ‘This is a highly prestigious and competitive competition, so it’s great that two CSA students have even been shortlisted.’

The winners will be announced in June 2021, and we wish both Kata and Loredana the best of fortunes for the competition.
