Outside the lecture theatre: Maximising student learning in applied sessions

2 May 2018, 16:30 - 18:00
Cambridge campus

Part of the Talking about Teaching seminars.

Dr Matthew Timmis of Faculty of Science & Technology will consider how to use innovative teaching practice to maximise student learning in sessions in which students apply their learning. The seminar will provide an opportunity for staff from across the institution to share their best practice and consider ways to improve their own teaching practice.

The seminar will consider (but not be limited to):

  • How do we define an applied session?
  • What comprises a good applied session and why?
  • Is there a common model which could be adopted across the institution for how applied sessions should run?
  • How do we ensure inclusivity for all students in applied sessions?
  • How can we utilise formative assessment in an applied setting?

You can also join remotely by accessing the session on Adobe Connect. You may have to update your Flash Player. An Adobe Connect app works very well on mobile devices and the appropriate version can be downloaded from the additional downloads section.
