This workshop explores what is meant by leadership in an academic context, and sets the role of Course Leader into the fast-changing context of higher education, and within the context of ARU policies and quality processes. It explores how colleagues in this crucial role can drive change and enhancement in their courses, with their course teams. The workshop ‘unpacks’ the Course Leader role, considers the kinds of responsibilities and activities associated with it, the things that help and hinder Course Leaders, and the sources of information and support available to them in their role. It also considers the implications of the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF).
