Writtle University College and ARU have recently merged. Writtle’s full range of courses will still be delivered on the Writtle campus, as will your Applicant Day.
Here, we answer a few questions that we're asked about Applicant Days in Writtle which this year, may vary a little from Applicant Days at other ARU campuses.
You don’t have to attend our Applicant Day, but we highly recommend that you do. It's a great opportunity to experience life in Writtle, meet our academic and support teams, attend subject tasters, ask any questions, meet future friends and explore our beautiful campus – oh, and there's a BBQ lunch to enjoy and goodie bags to take home!
Yes. You should receive an invite to attend the Writtle Applicant Day. Follow the booking link to secure your place.
No, as our Applicant Day follows a programme of events, your booking gives you access to the entire day. No additional booking is required subject tasters, or for accommodation and campus tours.
Your taster session is designed to give you a practical experience of what it would be like to study on your course. For most of our subjects at Writtle you can expect your sessions to take place outdoors, so please dress appropriately.
Yes, from 3pm we will be hosting Accommodation Tours led by our Student Ambassadors.
There is plenty of free parking on our Lordship Campus. Once you have parked, head towards the flags for check in. Don’t worry if you’re unsure where to go, our Student Ambassadors will be on hand to show you.
Our programme of events, starting with a Welcome Talk, begins at 10am, therefore you should arrive between 9.30am and 10am for registration. If you arrive early, the Writtle Tiptree Tea Rooms is based on our campus and does a lovely breakfast!
Once you have arrived, head to the Northumberland Building on our Lordship Campus to register your attendance, please have your booking QR ready to scan.
You’ll receive a lanyard and guest information, and can help yourself to refreshments. From here, you’ll part from your parent/guardians/s and guests then head into to the Welcome Talk.
You don’t have to worry about buying any food when you visit, we have plenty of refreshments available throughout the day, including a complimentary BBQ lunch for students, catering to all dietary requirements disclosed at time of booking.
You will find multiple water bottle filling stations located around our campus too.
Tiptree Tea Room is located on our Lordship Campus and does a delicious breakfast if you arrive early.
Yes, during the lunch session we have a quiet breakout space available. The Essex Therapy Dogs will be based here to say hello!
For most courses, there is no dress code, however we do advise that you wear comfortable shoes, as you will be walking between and around campuses.
Some subjects may have additional requirements, such as horticulture and agriculture, where we suggest that you dress for the outdoors.
For equine courses, we ask that you wear/bring appropriate PPE, suitable for the yard. You will be contacted before the day with more information.
There is not much to prepare: we'll have everything prepared for you when you arrive.
It may be a good idea to come armed with a few questions that you did not get the chance to ask at an Open Day, as there will be plenty of staff, students and academics around to speak to during the day.
Unfortunately, we only run one Applicant Day per academic year. However, we run multiple Open Days which will still give you the opportunity to meet some of the academic and support teams, as well as take a tour of our campus and accommodation.
Yes, during the Information Fair at the end of the day you’ll have the opportunity to have conversations with members of support teams.
Parents/guardians and guests are free to explore the local area while you're enjoying your day. Please see the guest information guide given out on the day for our top tips.
At 2.30pm they are invited to a Parent Presentation and will be able to re-join you at 3pm for the Information Fair and Accommodation Tours.
