Travelling to the College of West Anglia

The College of West Anglia has three campuses, in King's Lynn, Wisbech and Milton, on the outskirts of Cambridge. They're all easily accessible from other parts of the UK and overseas.

King's Lynn is the largest campus and it's 106 miles (170 km) from London and 46 miles (74 km) from Cambridge. In Wisbech, the campus (known as Isle Campus) is 103 miles (166 km) from London and 40 miles (64 km) from Cambridge. The Cambridge campus is 61 miles (98 km) from London and 46 miles (74 km) from the main campus at King’s Lynn.

Travelling by bike

King’s Lynn and Wisbech are easy to get around by bike and west Norfolk is ideal cycling country, with cycle routes criss-crossing the whole area - often following traffic-free paths. 

Cambridge is famously bike-friendly. There are plenty of facilities for cyclists, including cycle parks, a hire shop at the railway station and countless cycle routes. The Cambridge Cycling Campaign has a comprehensive map of the city and a route planner.

Travelling by public transport

Train

King's Lynn station is about half a mile (15 minutes’ walk) from campus. Some estimated journey times are: 

  • London - 1 hour 40 minutes
  • York - 3 hours 50 minutes
  • Leeds - 3 hours 20 minutes
  • Newcastle - 4 hours 50 minutes
  • Edinburgh - 6 hours 20 minutes.

In Cambridge, the campus is a 20 to 25-minute walk from the city's main train station. Some estimated journey times are:

  • London - 1 hour 10 minutes
  • York - 3 hours 10 minutes
  • Leeds - 3 hours 10 minutes
  • Newcastle - 4 hours 10 minutes
  • Edinburgh - 5 hours 10 minutes.

Bus

King's Lynn bus station is next to the Vancouver Centre on Albion Street, a 15-minute walk from the college. The main operator for west Norfolk is First Group, with local services operated by Norfolk Green. In Wisbech, the local bus operator is also Norfolk Green. 

We're served by several bus routes in Cambridge, too - Cambridgeshire County Council has details of local services.

Air

The nearest airports to King’s Lynn, Wisbech and Cambridge are East Midlands, London Stansted, Luton and Norwich.

By car the journey from:

  • East Midlands airport to Cambridge takes approximately 1 hour 50 minutes
  • London Stansted airport to Cambridge takes approximately 45 minutes
  • Luton airport to Cambridge takes approximately 1 hour 10 minutes
  • Norwich airport to Cambridge takes approximately 1 hour 50 minutes.

By car the journey from:

  • East Midlands airport to King’s Lynn or Wisbech takes approximately 2 hours 30 minutes
  • London Stansted airport to King’s Lynn or Wisbech takes approximately 1 hour 40 minutes
  • Luton airport to King’s Lynn or Wisbech takes approximately 2 hour 20 minutes
  • Norwich airport to King’s Lynn or Wisbech takes approximately 1 hour 20 minutes.

You can reach College of West Anglia campuses via Harwich International Port:

The journey from Harwich to Cambridge by car takes about 1 hour 30 minutes. The journey to King's Lynn and Wisbech is slightly longer - about two hours.

Travelling by car

The King's Lynn campus is on Tennyson Avenue. Free but limited parking is available here. In Wisbech, Isle Campus is on Ramnoth Road; there's also limited free parking here.

The Cambridge campus is on Landbeach Road. In Cambridge, we only have parking for blue badge holders. However, the city's Park & Ride services are an excellent way to get around; the nearest stop is about a 15-minute walk away.
