The Village is a great place to live: you’ll have the company of other Anglia Ruskin students, plus easy access to local shops and our Students’ Union lounge. It’s also just a short walk to Chelmsford’s picturesque riverside and the City Centre. You can apply for accommodation in Chelmsford if:
* We have temporarily removed the requirement for new applicants to live outside of a defined 15 mile radius of our Chelmsford campus for 16/17 applicants.
We are currently accepting requests from second and third year students to be added to the accommodation waiting list, please email us if you are interested in applying for a room at the Student Village.
There are 510 single bedrooms in our Student Village, arranged into flats. Each flat contains three, five or six bedrooms.
All bedrooms have a single bed, desk, chair and wardrobe (you’ll need to bring your own bedding, towels and other personal items). Most rooms are en-suite, with their own shower and toilet (four of the three-bedroom flats are not en-suite, and have a shared bathroom).
Adapted rooms are available that are suitable for wheelchair users and have a call alarm system. We also have adapted rooms for students with visual or hearing impairments.
Internet (a 25MB wired and wireless service) is included in your rent. An optional TV service is available through our internet provider, at an extra cost. You’ll find TV aerial sockets in all rooms, but will need to bring your own TV and buy a TV licence.
You'll share a small kitchen (three-bed flats) or a kitchen/diner (five- to six-bed flats). Your kitchen will have a fridge, freezer, cooker and microwave. It doesn’t include a kettle, toaster or cutlery. You could buy kitchen items after you arrive and share the cost with your housemates.
Our Student Village is within walking distance of Chelmsford city centre and its shops, bars and restaurants. It’s also near the train and bus stations. Our university library, campus shops, launderette, gym, cafes, classrooms and lecture theatres are right on your doorstep.
You’ll find bicycle storage in the Student Village along with limited car parking for Blue Badge holders or those studying certain courses. (You’ll need to apply for a car parking permit.)
If you have any questions while living in our Student Village, our Residential Service Team can help. Residential assistants are available when the Residential Service office is closed.
Common areas including stairs and corridors are cleaned, but you’ll be responsible for cleaning inside your flat – your bedroom, bathroom and the kitchen.
All utilities (water and electric) are included in your rent to a reasonable threshold.
There’s CCTV and 24-hour campus security.
