Writtle University College and ARU have merged. Writtle’s full range of college, degree, postgraduate and short courses will still be delivered on the Writtle campus. See our guide to finding Writtle information on this site.

Accommodation in Writtle

In Writtle, we have 382 rooms available in 14 halls of residence set in beautiful gardens on the main campus.

The halls are close to amenities such as cafes and restaurants, the Students' Union, recreation and fitness centre, campus library, study hub, computer suites and laundry facilities.

Our accommodation is available to further and higher education students aged 18 and over. Information for students aged under 18.

Our halls of residence

Hamilton, Maddison and Tabor halls are all fully en suite.

Tabor and Strutt halls both offer some larger rooms which may be suited to students with lots of equipment.

You may also wish to explore private rented accommodation in the local area.

How to apply

You can apply for a place in halls as soon as you've accepted Writtle as your first-choice place to study.

Students with disabilities receive priority consideration, and some rooms have been adapted for those with mobility and hearing problems. Please let us know about your requirements when you apply and we'll be able to discuss any special arrangements with you.

Unfortunately Writtle students cannot reside within ARU Chelmsford accommodation. You will need to apply for accommodation at the campus you are registered to.
