Our English Plus Art and Design programme provides a great opportunity to develop your English language skills and combine this with a practical, hands-on art and design course, in one of the most established art schools in the UK.
The course is designed to give you an introduction into studying art and design in a UK university. You’ll have the opportunity to explore many different areas off art and design, some of which you may not have studied before.
At Anglia Ruskin’s Cambridge school of Art, we actively encourage students to have an interdisciplinary approach to their studies, to gain a deeper understanding of the subject area. Whatever your particular specialist interest is within Art and Design; for example Graphic Design, Fashion, Interior Design, Photography or Illustration, our academics will work with you to adapt the content to suit your needs.
You’ll attend classes on English for Art, to enable you to discuss your artwork in more detail and feel confident in giving opinions and listening to art lectures. You’ll also develop your everyday English skills in speaking and writing, with a focus on art and design.
You’ll have full access to our art and design studios, including our drawing studio, printmaking workshops, film and TV studios and our public art gallery – the Ruskin Gallery. You’ll also have the opportunity to work on your individual portfolio, which you’ll exhibit at the end of the course.
There will be a number of visits to art galleries and museums, both in Cambridge and London to further enhance your experience of studying art and design in the UK.
The English Plus Art and Design course is a full time course that runs for either two or four weeks and comprises of 25 hours of study. This will include 15 hours of English and Art focused language and 10 hours of Art and Design.
