Anglia Learning & Teaching offer two short courses which support teaching and learning development and practice.
The Introduction to Learning & Teaching at ARU is a three-hour online workshop that aims to give an overview of learning and teaching at ARU, including current initiatives, strategies, and development opportunities and includes topics such as active learning, assessment and marking, and diversity and inclusion.
This workshop is open to all colleagues and postgraduate researchers at ARU who want an introduction or refresher to learning and teaching and how Anglia Learning & Teaching can support them. It is especially relevant for new staff at ARU to support their transition.
There is also the option to attend an additional one-hour on-campus workshop, focussing on classroom technology.
The Learning and Teaching in Practice (LTP) course, run by Anglia Learning & Teaching and accredited by Advance HE, is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills they will need to teach successfully.
LTP is open to all staff at ARU, including Associate Lecturers, and is specifically aimed at postgraduate researchers or staff who are looking to teach at ARU, and staff who teach/support learning who are not undertaking the PG Cert in Learning & Teaching (e.g. professional services staff and Associate Lecturers).
LTP is a compulsory requirement for any postgraduate researchers teaching at ARU who have not undertaken approved training related to teaching and supporting learning, and must be completed and passed before teaching is started.
As we offer this course to ARU internal staff postgraduate researchers only, places are funded and there is no cost to participants or their faculty/professional service.
LTP runs over four days and is a blended delivery, with a mix of on-campus workshops, online workshops and asynchronous activities, and a short teaching session (a ‘microteach’) at the end.
LTP introduces topics including: planning learning activities and study programmes; how students learn; teaching large and small groups; active learning; inclusion, diversity, and accessibility; giving feedback; online teaching and learning; and developing teaching materials.
Successful participants have the option to submit an additional teaching and learning related portfolio for assessment to gain Advance HE Associate Fellowship.
Please note that participants will need to attend throughout all four days and pass the assessment of a short teaching session in order to pass the course.
