Whatever you’re looking for in a city, Peterborough has a great blend of everything, only on a smaller scale. It’s in the heart of rural East England, bridging Cambridgeshire, Rutland, Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire.
Often described as the 'Gateway to the Fens', historic Peterborough is dominated by its imposing Norman cathedral. It's also home to Flag Fen (a Bronze Age archaeological park), several museums, and the stunning Burghley House. This, together with magnificent parkland to explore, great shopping outlets for some much-needed retail therapy, and easy transport links to London, Cambridge and the North, make Peterborough a great place to live, study and work.
For those of you eager to explore Peterborough's night life, there’s something happening pretty much every night throughout the year, across the city. And there’s something for everyone - from dance and comedy, to music to art. There are three theatres, a cinema and the embankment, which hosts various al fresco events throughout the year.
For foodies, there’s a diverse selection of themed restaurants serving cuisine from tables around the world including a spicy Mexican, a fragrant Thai, or a creamy curry, stylish Italian or hearty English pub grub. There’s also an exciting array of pubs, cocktail bars and night clubs that stay open until the early hours and in the surrounding villages you’ll find many quality country restaurants and pubs to explore. For a taste of the unusual the Peterborough Beer Festival is the biggest undercover real ale event in the UK and offers a huge selection of beers. You'll be spoilt for choice!
For sports enthusiasts, within walking distance of our Guild House campus, you’ll find Peterborough United Football Club (The Posh). The city also boasts a Premier League ice hockey team and an Elite League speedway team.
Nene Park is one of several leisure parks nearby, and there’s an extensive network of cycle paths around the city centre and nearby villages. There’s also open air swimming available at the Lido, an ice rink, a bowling alley and go-karting. Visit Peterborough has more information.
