Nursing, a career that begins with care

All careers in nursing begin with care, but they can take you in so many different directions. Whether you want work in a hospital or in the community, days or nights, with children or older adults, we will help you find the right path for you.

The possibilities are endless and exciting and we’d love to take the first step of your nursing journey with you.

There are many benefits to studying nursing at Anglia Ruskin University. Our outstanding nursing facilities, our supportive staff and the placement opportunities we offer in association with our trust partners are a good place to start. And you don’t have to take our word for it, in 2016 we were named one of the top 10 places to study nursing in the country in a Nursing Times report.

We strongly support the values of the NHS constitution; every nurse is a leader and can deliver high-quality care by respecting those standards of excellence and professionalism.

Nursing at ARU

Why choose us?

There are many reasons to study with us but here are a few achievements we are particularly proud of:

  • ARU was one of only 16 HEIs in the UK to receive an 'outstanding' in the NMC Fitness to Practise category.
  • In the NSS 2016 results our BSc Mental Health in Cambridge had 100% student satisfaction.
  • Our students regularly win prestigious award. Our latest winners are Olivia Rees who won the 2016 Community Award at the Cavell Nurses’ Trust Awards and Aisha Gaido who won Student Leader of the Year at the 2015 Quality in Education and Training Awards, organised by Health Education East of England (HEEoE).
  • We share our vision of nursing education. Our Dean, Professor Ruth Taylor, has been elected onto the Executive Team of the Council of Deans of Health. This is the representative body for the UK’s university faculties involved in education and research for nurses, midwives and health professionals.

This success based on strong partnerships with healthcare providers through the East of England. Speak out Safely campaign

Speak Out Safely logo
Supporting the Nursing Times Speak Out Safely campaign, we encourage our staff and students to raise concerns about wrongdoing or poor practice when they see it and to feel that their concerns will be addressed in a constructive way.

We promise that where staff or students identify a genuine patient safety concern, we’ll support and help them to ensure their concern is fully investigated and, if appropriate, act on their concern. We’ll also give them feedback about how service providers have responded to the issue they have raised as soon as possible.

Whether you’re a staff member or a student, please speak up. We want you to be able to Speak Out Safely.  More details on our pledge.

Take your first step towards a career in nursing today.
