What does it mean to make, keep or break a promise? Can you really be true to your word? What are the implications for morality and language? In this illustrated talk with interactive activities we will explore how promising works, with the help of some philosophers who have expressed their views on this subject.
No previous experience of philosophy (or making promises) required!
With Dr Alison Ainley, Principal Lecturer in Philosophy, Anglia Ruskin University.
