The Natural Environment Research Council will soon open its 2017 call for open Knowledge Exchange (KE) fellows. These unusual fellowships are not for research in a conventional sense, but for 20-80% of a researcher's time, which will be spent working in some way towards generating impact from NERC-funded research.
Awards are made for the salary of the researcher, pro rata, plus some funding towards travel expenses. NERC research is used for:
- providing the scientific evidence necessary to inform public policy and business strategy as our environment alters
- protecting people and minimising costs through better forecasting of environmental hazards
- creating wealth by providing business with the starting point for new or improved products, services and solutions.
KE fellows, therefore, mainly carry out activities such as building partnerships, creating consortia, or providing briefings to funders or policy makers.
Opening date on Je-S: 26 February 2017
Closing date on Je-S: 4pm on 27 April 2017
Interview dates: week commencing 12 June 2017 in Birmingham
