The Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) has opened its annual call for future leaders: early career researchers seeking to establish independent groups.
Applicants will have no more than five years' postdoctoral experience, but will have demonstrated 'high potential'.
"In assessing proposals Research Committee E will consider an applicant’s research proposal, personal track record and future plans, and the research environment in which the fellowship will be held.
As such, the research proposal should be sound and of a novelty and timeliness that will add to the understanding of the research area, the applicant should have an excellent track record (accounting for their research experience) and have considered their training needs (as detailed in the Career Development Plan), and the research environment should be supportive and the best place for the applicant to carry out their research project and advance their career."
This is a prestigious award, supporting up to twelve fellowships for up to £300,000 (at 80% FEC). Salary, travel and consumables are eligible costs, and demonstrating value for money is central to the application. If you are considering this source of funding as a way to develop your early career in research, do study the guidance in detail and get in touch with RIDO!
