The Humanities in the European Research Area (HERA) network intends to open its next funding programme in late August 2017 (closing late October). The theme of this, the 4th research programme, is Public Spaces: Culture and Integration in Europe.
The programme seeks to 'deepen the theoretical and empirical cultural understanding of public spaces', but allows for a wide variety of approaches and hypotheses to be examined. HERA explains:
"The programme has been designed to facilitate a broad range of cultural approaches to conceptualising public space, its structural and processual formations, and its possible outcomes in terms of, for example, integration, exclusion, disintegration, fragmentation, hybridization, amalgamation or transmission."
A maximum of €1 million is available to each successful consortium, and projects will last between two and three years. Applications will be assessed in a two-stage procedure. Keep an eye on the website for the opening of the call, and in the meantime start putting your teams together!
