Professor Martin Reynolds will join Anglia Ruskin University as the new Dean of the Ashcroft International Business School (AIBS) on 1 February 2006, to coincide with the retirement of Philip Knowles who has been Dean of the Business School for 5 years.

Professor Reynolds, who was educated in Scunthorpe, is currently Dean of the Business School at Nottingham Trent University where he has worked in various senior management positions for the past 15 years. Before moving to Nottingham, he held posts at Sheffield Hallam University where he lectured in Accounting, Finance and Information Systems. He obtained a first class honours degree and a doctorate in Economics from the University of York and, in total, has over 25 years experience of higher education in the UK.

As the Dean of the Ashcroft International Business School, Professor Reynolds will have overall responsibility for strategic development and leadership.

Commenting on his appointment, he gave a clear indication of where his priorities lie:

"I hold strong views that a Business School should excel in meeting the needs of business. Business Schools are continually challenged on this issue and rightly so. It is all about ensuring market-led and market-paced innovation is central to the School's courses and research programmes.”

"I intend to build on the reputation and profile of AIBS throughout the East of England in order to strengthen still further its growing networks and partnerships."

Professor Tidmarsh, Vice Chancellor of Anglia Ruskin University said:

"It is exceptionally good news that Martin has agreed to join us. He brings a wealth of experience to the role of Dean with his innovative thinking on strategic planning, academic leadership and resource development.”

"I am confident that he will both enhance and develop the position of the Ashcroft International Business School, regionally, nationally and internationally."
