Anglia Ruskin University’s Music and Performing Arts students celebrate the end of the academic year with a series of assessed recitals and drama production which form the core of their annual Festival Week. The Festival, which runs from June 1 to June 4, showcases the students’ artistic talents in a diverse programme that includes world music, popular and jazz music, classical recitals and a double bill of devised theatre.

The week includes performances by Anglia Ruskin Chorus and Chamber Choir (Tuesday 1 June at 2.30 pm), Anglia Ruskin Gamelan Group (Tuesday 1 June at 5 pm), celebrated cellist Katarina Majcen (Tuesday 1 June at 8pm) and Anglia Ruskin Jazz Voices (Thursday 3 June at 8 pm) plus a range of solo and chamber music recitals throughout the day and evening.

In addition, during the following week Anglia Contemporary Theatre, which features the department’s graduating drama students, present a double-bill of devised theatre at The Junction, Clifton Road. The shows, Sackgasse and Return to Sender will both be performed each evening on Wednesday 9 June and Thursday 10 June (8 pm).

Anglia Ruskin’s Festival Week director Alan Rochford says this year’s event promises to be the best ever. He adds:

"Our June Festival Week marks the climax of our academic year with an action packed few days of wonderful solo and ensemble performances by our student musicians and actors."

"The standards and variety are quite exceptional - there is something for everyone including classical, jazz, and world music; and of course our amazing drama productions at The Junction. Quality is guaranteed and admission to most events is free."
