Anyone interested in keeping tabs on their family finances is being urged to book a place at a special event at Anglia Ruskin University in Chelmsford on Saturday 18 June.

David Matthews, an Associate Lecturer at the Lord Ashcroft International Business School, will be running a workshop offering advice on how to manage household budgets, while Sarah Johnson, Anglia Ruskin’s Environment and Utilities Officer, will be holding a quiz and interactive talk highlighting ways to stay green while saving money at the same time.

The Family Finance event will also feature the “Cheap as Chips” taste-test challenge. This involves examining the differences between premium brands and supermarket’s own economy ranges, which is perfect for anyone looking to get a better deal while doing their weekly shop.

Rachel Moss, from Anglia Ruskin’s External Liaison Team, said:

“This event is open to absolutely anyone who is interested in getting practical advice on balancing household budgets, learning how to reduce energy consumption and finding new ways of saving money.

“Even if you think your finances are in order, I’m sure you’ll come away with some useful money-saving tips.”

The Family Finance workshop, which is part of the national Universities Week campaign, will be held in Sawyers 001 on Anglia Ruskin’s Rivermead Campus from 10am-12pm.  The event is free of charge and light refreshments will be provided.  To book your place, contact Rachel Moss on 0845 196 4723 or email
