We are delighted to welcome Grayson Perry, contemporary artist, social critic, and winner of the 2003 Turner Prize, to launch this year’s Festival.Born in Chelmsford in 1960, Grayson’s formal introduction to art took place in 1978 when he completed a foundation course at Braintree College. Since then he has become a much-loved Essex icon – if not, national treasure – not least of all for his wonderful A House for Essex.
