Writtle University College and ARU have merged. Writtle’s full range of college, degree, postgraduate and short courses will still be delivered on the Writtle campus. See our guide to finding Writtle information on this site.

Welcome to your Applicant Day

Applicant Days are subject-specific days which give you the opportunity to discover your chosen course in much more detail. They're an essential step in your university journey.

At your Applicant Day you'll be able to:

  • Learn more about the course you've applied for
  • Take part in taster lectures and interactive workshops to experience your course at ARU
  • Speak to tutors and academics
  • Take guided tours of our campuses
  • Speak to current students about their experiences
  • Meet your future classmates and start making friends
  • Find out more about finance and get your admissions queries answered
  • See examples of student accommodation

Free travel

We’re committed to doing all we can to reduce the environmental impact of traffic travelling to our events, and promote the use of public transport wherever possible. We have great partnerships that offer free travel to our next campus Applicant Days.

We have free transport on offer with Stagecoach East buses for our Cambridge and Peterborough campuses.

Once you have signed up to an Applicant Day at ARU, we will send through an e-voucher via email in the weeks leading up to your event. Simply show your bus driver the e-voucher emailed to you and ask for a free single ticket. This voucher will provide your guest with free travel too.

For more information, visit the Stagecoach East website.

We've partnered with Greater Anglia to provide you with free travel to and from our campuses in Cambridge, Chelmsford (which is also the nearest station to our campus in Writtle) and Peterborough.

Please note: this offer only applies to journeys between stations on the Greater Anglia network. If your station is not listed, please call 0345 600 7245 (option 3) and they will be able to add the station to the list.

Greater Anglia train tickets are sent by post. Make sure you book your tickets at least five days before the event to ensure time for delivery. If there are engineering works you may need to catch a rail replacement bus. Your free train ticket covers this bus travel.

When claiming your train ticket use code 'ARUCBG' for Cambridge, 'aruchm' for Chelmsford, or ‘ARUOpen’ for Peterborough.

FAQs

Below we answer some general questions about Applicant Days.

if you've applied to study in Writtle, please see our Writtle Applicant Day FAQs. As Writtle University College and ARU have recently merged, there are some small differences in Applicant Day arrangements this year.

Applicant Days are tailored more to your course choice and contain activities such as sample lectures or course workshops.

Please contact our Admissions Customer Service Team, who will be able to help. Email [email protected] or call 01245 686868.

Not all courses will be having Applicant Days but please email [email protected] and we'll check to see if you should have had an invite.

Unfortunately this is an invite-only event. If your friend hasn't received their own invitation, they're welcome to check out our ARU On Demand experience, attend an Open Day or join us for a Taster Day.

There may be more than one Applicant Day for the two courses, so you can come to both events or choose the one you're most interested in.

We do recommend that you attend the whole event, but if you can only make the morning or afternoon, then we'd still be happy to see you there.

You can view our halls and houses and reserve accommodation online when bookings open. Find out more about applying for accommodation.

You can book accommodation once you have a conditional or unconditional firm acceptance with us.

If you have any questions about your application, our Admissions Customer Service team is here to help. Email [email protected] or call 01245 686868.
