Continuing Professional Development (short course)
Gain the support and skills you need to carry out your leadership roles and responsibilities as a practice nurse.
This course provides an innovative exploration of leadership and management in healthcare and examines their impact on organisations – including wider external considerations – and will enable you to understand your role and to identify areas of strengths and weaknesses.
You’ll learn some fundamental skills needed to communicate at different levels, how to increase your confidence to operate at a strategic level and how to manage personal and work related issues. Different leadership theories and models will be used to explain behaviours and attitudes and you’ll begin to understand the effects of change in the healthcare environment.
The course is participative with time allowed for practicing new skills and discussing models used, as well as providing an opportunity to discuss and reflect on your own concerns and issues. You’ll complete an action plan at the end of each session, which will help you to put into practice your new learning and evaluate the effectiveness of the training.
