A versatile course in a brilliant location

Course: BA (Hons) Writing and Film Studies

10 April 2018

I love the fact that I am doing a combined honours degree. It gives my course breadth and allows me to study two things that I am really excited and enthusiastic about. My course is especially versatile in that you can choose for it to be more literary, theoretical or to include more practical filmmaking. It allows you to really personalise the course for your needs and interests.

Cambridge is a brilliant location to study because of the environment and its proximity to London but also because of the amount of Festivals going on. I have volunteered at the Cambridge Film Festival for two years now and really enjoy doing that. Next year I am hoping to write film reviews for them during the Festival.

Our teachers are all really enthusiastic about their subject area and are very helpful and approachable. If you have any questions or concerns, they are always just one email away. Film Reviewing was one of my favourite modules in the first year - we got weekly feedback on our reviews. It really encouraged me to expose the weaknesses in my writing process and improve. With the feedback from my lecturer, I even managed to get one of my reviews published online.

The friendly and supportive environment at Anglia Ruskin keeps me going at stressful times and makes me push myself to the best of my abilities. Studying here is a really enriching experience for me.
