High-performance cricket

Cricket at Anglia Ruskin University is well-supported, as we're one of six MCC universities, in partnership with Cambridge University.

Talented athletes are able to access dedicated support, train at the indoor school at Fenners Ground (a two-minute walk from campus), and play fixtures on a first class ground. You'll be able to train as a full-time player and carry on your education.

The below training opportunities will apply to both Cambridge Men’s MCCU as well as the Cambridge Women’s MCCU programme.

The women have their own dedicated team sessions and compete in BUCS tier 1. For more information about the women’s training please contact teamaru@anglia.ac.uk. The squad currently have players representing Essex County team, as well as other county and club sides.

MCCU cricketers get:

  • group strength and conditioning sessions
  • first class fixtures against professional county sides
  • individual and group coaching sessions
  • a pre-season tour
  • video and Hawk-Eye analysis at Lord's.

Athletes also (when selected by the coach) get:

  • free sports club membership
  • free gym access
  • access to sports therapists to help with prehabilitation and recovery from injury
  • sports performance talks.

Exceptional athletes may also be eligible for an ARU Sport Scholarship.
