Helmore Gym

In Cambridge, our gym is on the first floor of Helmore Building. Lifts are available by Helmore refectory on the ground floor and outside Helmore Gym on the first floor.

Helmore Gym has undergone a complete refurbishment recently, with over £100,000 of investment. All new state of the art equipment including next generation cardiovascular equipment with 15” LCD touch screen consoles with built in digital free-view channels, Olympic lifting platforms and racks aimed at our performance based athletes, dumbbells ranging from 2.5-50kg, and modern, functional resistance machines.

The size of the gym has also increased along with the improved floor plan to maximise the gym usage. The new equipment provides options for everyone, no matter the goal.

Lockers, changing facilities and accessible changing facilities are also available.

Helmore Gym console

Howes Close

We have our own playing fields at Howes Close Sports Ground, which is also home to our football and rugby teams. 

We’re about to begin a £4.75 million development of Howes Close, which will include a state-of-the-art sports pavilion with viewing gallery and eight changing rooms. There’ll also be four brand new pitches, two artificial and two grass pitches.

Kelsey Kerridge

We work in partnership with Kelsey Kerridge Sports Centre in Cambridge, so you can enjoy their facilities for less. Kelsey Kerridge Sports Centre is less than five minutes' walk from our campus and overlooks Parker's Piece.

Outlooks Gym

Outlooks Gym is on the top floor of Kelsey Kerridge. It has a full range of cardiovascular equipment including treadmills, cross trainers, Arc trainers, rowing machines, bikes and steppers plus a full range of resistance weights machines.

Free Weights Gym

The Free Weights Gym is located on the first floor and has 30 pieces of CYBEX equipment with range dumbbells up to 75kg, and a power cage with an Olympic training platform which can provide for a variety of exercises such as Olympic lifting, power and strength training. Cardiovascular equipment is also available for warming up, or for general conditioning.

Lifts are available to all floors. Lockers, changing facilities and accessible changing facilities are also available.

Climbing Wall

Kelsey Kerridge Sports Centre has a state-of-art bouldering wall with more than 200m² surface area and many wall features, including a 40-degree overhanging barrel, arch and multi-faceted features. The wall also has full training facilities, 1,600 holds and eight new top-rope anchors. Regular route-setting will be headed up by some of the country's top route-setters.

The climbing wall is available for Anglia Ruskin students and staff, and the general public.

Parkside Pools

Parkside Pools is just a stone's throw from our Cambridge campus. The Parkside Pools complex includes a 25-metre, eight-lane swimming pool, a teaching and diving pool with a moveable floor, and a children's leisure pool. Parkside also has two flume rides - one single and one suitable for two people.

Other facilities at Parkside Pools include a health spa including a sauna and a sanarium (a combination of steam and sauna), a spa pool, and two springboards and three fixed diving platforms.

Fenners Cricket Ground

Fenner's is a centre of cricketing excellence and is on the doorstep of our Cambridge campus. First-class cricket has been played on the beautiful grounds of Fenner's for well over a century. Our partnership with Cambridge University and the MCC gives you a unique opportunity to excel in cricket while studying with us. Please visit Sports Scholarships to find out more.

Alongside Cardiff/Glamorgan, Durham, Leeds/Bradford, Loughborough and Oxford we're one of the six MCC Universities centres, so our cricketers can develop their skills while regularly competing against county sides.

Table Tennis Tables

We've got two outdoor table tennis tables in Cambridge which are free for our students and staff to use. You'll find them in the Lord Ashcroft Building courtyard and behind Peter Taylor Halls.

Equipment is provided at the tables and you can get extra bats or balls, if needed, from the iCentre.

Tennis Court

On campus we have a tennis court behind the Peter Taylor Halls which is available for our students and staff to use.

Tennis bookings need to be made at Helmore Gym on the first floor of Helmore or you can book online.

Players need to bring their own equipment and collect the key from the Helmore Gym.
