Mike is an accredited strength and conditioning coach whose research focuses on the interaction of players with artificial turf surfaces (3G pitches) in rugby.
Here at ARU, Mike's research continues to focus on player-turf interaction in rugby, using motion capture techniques to capture and quantify the nature of the foot contact during kicking and scrummaging. He's also interested in strength and conditioning, and youth development.
Mike has worked as a strength and conditioning coach himself, most recently as a UKSCA-accredited coach Northampton County Cricket Club, and before that as lead S&C coach for the City of Leeds Swimming Club, and the University of Leeds sports performance programme.
Mike is the module leader for Applied Sports Pedagogy, Anatomy for Motion, Applied Kinesthesiology and Biomechanics, and Strength and Conditioning.
