Collaborative outreach projects

Take Your Place logo

The national collaborative outreach programme aims to support the most disadvantaged young people in England to progress into higher education.

Anglia Ruskin is a partner in two projects in the East of England: Take Your Place and Make Happen.

From 2016-17 and 2019-20, we'll be undertaking outreach activity in areas where the participation of young people in higher education is both low, and much lower than expected based on GCSE-level attainment.

Overall, there are 29 consortia across England. Those involved in the consortia include higher education providers; schools; colleges; and other organisations such as employers, third sector groups and local enterprise partnerships.

The programme aims to support the Government’s goals to:

  • double the proportion of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in higher education by 2020
  • increase by 20% the number of students in higher education from ethnic minority groups
  • address the under-representation of young men from disadvantaged backgrounds in higher education.
