Yvonne is an experienced optometrist and teaches mainly clinical aspects of our optometry degree, including contact lenses. She's worked extensively with optometric professional bodies.
Yvonne gained her PhD from Anglia Ruskin University on the subject of visual crowding in children. Her research continues to focus on the study of visual development, with the aim of better detection of childhood eye problems.
After graduating from the University of Manchester with a degree in ophthalmic optics, Yvonne gained clinical experience working in the Hospital Eye Service and in private and multiple practice. She held the position of Professional Services Manager (Eastern Region) for Boots Opticians Ltd from 1993 to 1998.
Yvonne is an experienced examiner for the College of Optometrists and is a member of the OSCE editing and writing group. She was also a panel member of the Fitness to Practise Panel appointed by the UK regulatory body, the General Optical Council, from 2003-2015.
