Yvette has previous experience working in a management and leadership role in clinical practice in the NHS. She is an expert in online distance learning having worked for Anglia Ruskin University as an online lecturer since 2004.

Background

With over 20 years’ experience as a therapeutic radiographer in the NHS, Yvette understands the challenges faced by staff working in health and social care. Managing change and the need for service efficiency and improvement are key features of health and social care practice and this is reflected in the content on both courses Yvette leads.

Both courses Yvette leads are delivered entirely online therefore her areas of interest primarily lie in this area of educational research: specifically, developing innovative teaching and learning support for online distance learning students, helping students’ transition to university, online induction and supporting students in the development of their academic skills.

Research grants, consultancy, knowledge exchange

  • June 2019: St Mary’s University, Twickenham. Delivery of a two-day workshop to advise about planning, implementing and managing an online induction to enhance teaching and learning for their blended learners.
  • June 2020: Plymouth College of Art. Delivery of Keynote speech for an online learning and teaching symposium. The symposium was designed to help staff address the pragmatic challenges of developing online learning in response to the COVID pandemic.
  • July 2022: ARU team sabbatical which aims to identify existing good practice at ARU and analyse students' experiences to aid the development of institution-wide pre-arrival (pre-registration) resources to expediate student transition into HE and reduce drop out.
