Professor Venkat V Ramakrishnan is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at the St Andrew’s Centre for Plastic Surgery and Burns in Chelmsford. His main area of work involves microsurgical reconstruction of the breast and aesthetic surgery of the breast.

Background

Professor Ramakrishnan's secondary interests are microsurgical reconstruction of the chest wall, abdomen and lower limb.

As a researcher, Professor Ramakrishnan's main areas of focus and audit work are in microsurgical techniques, service delivery and microcirculation in free flaps. He also has a major role as a trainer in microsurgery and was an inaugural tutor in plastic surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons, London.

Until recently, Professor Ramakrishnan was Director at St Andrew’s Centre for Plastic Surgery and Burns. He has also had roles in the BAPRAS Council and the project board of the National Mastectomy and Reconstruction Audit.
