Background

Tim completed a degree in Visual Communication at Sydney College of the Arts, University of Technology, Australia, after which he was selected to study Theatre Design at The National Institute of Dramatic Art, Sydney.

Immediately after graduation he was invited to design the first season of productions for the new NIDA Company. Following this he continued to work as a freelance designer for twenty years, his work broadening from theatre into television and film. In most of these productions, Tim designed both the sets and the costumes.

During this time, Tim also taught design at NIDA, the University of Technology, The Centre for Design, Enmore and the Australian Film and Television School, as well as participating in events such as Sydney Design Week at the Powerhouse Museum and undertaking numerous design installations.

As part of his exploration of the relationship between set costume and light, Tim undertook a Masters degree from Parsons Design School, The New School University, New York. After graduation, he taught at the school and worked as a designer for Tillett Lighting Design studio on various projects including residential designs, landscape design and master planning.

After living and working in New York, he returned to Sydney to work with LDP on larger scale projects in South East Asia and India, and also on projects such as the Sydney Opera House and the Auckland City Masterplan.

Tim's study and work has allowed him to develop a diverse and creative practice, which includes the lighting of interior architecture buildings with a particular interest in ecclesiastic architecture.
