Jon has recently founded an independent research support company, named I-CASE Associates LTD. His consultancy majors in the niche arena of Policing, Crime & Security, technology development, within the Horizon 2020 and wider research funding frameworks.
Jon has recently completed 30 years of UK police service, having joined at 18 years of age. He previously operated as a senior leader across a wide variety of policing domains, ranging from Community Policing, Stakeholder relations, Volume Crime, Serious and Organised Crime, Kidnap & Extortion, Homicide, Economic Crime, Criminal Justice, Crime Policy, Contact Management, Digital Investigation and Organisational Change. During his career, he has been commended on several occasions for his leadership and investigative responsibilities in a range of high profile matters.
Most recently, from 2013 to 2016, Jon enjoyed the role of Detective Superintendent Police Advisor to Home Office Science, Centre for Applied Science and Technology (CAST). His responsibility was to provided credible advice and strategic support/engagement at a national level across law enforcement and border agencies, to bring forward research and technology solutions to burgeoning risk issues. His core role was to support agencies and senior stakeholders to recognise opportunities in technology exploitation, to improve their delivery and efficiency while prioritising technology development through CAST's function and maximising UK LEA outcomes. He led in role to support the Home Office approach to digital investigation, community policing (technology enabled engagement) and border/immigration security to name but a few initiatives.
During this period, Jon also played a leading role developing the Home Office presence and relationships within numerous Horizon 2020 technology projects, exploiting funding and research opportunities to the benefit of UK law enforcement.
Jon is currently an adviser to multiple H2020 projects as a law enforcement expert in the development of technology (see Jon's profile on LinkedIn) and is currently a research partner with Trilateral Research, supporting their growing presence in technology research and development projects.
Jon’s recent experience and strength is that of a translator between operational, technical and academic domains. He focuses on mutual understanding and respect with an informed, relaxed and jovial style, to coalesce wide ranging expertise and backgrounds, supporting effective project delivery.
