Helga's primary area of research is European and Public International Law. She is also specialised in discrimination law, equity and trusts, business law and human rights.
Following her degree in law, Helga started her academic career at the University of Bologna working as a teaching assistant for the chair of international law. She concluded her legal practice in an international law firm of Bologna. She received her LL.M. in American Law and International Legal Practice from the Loyola Law School of Los Angeles. She received a second LL.M. in legal research from Middlesex University, London.
Her PhD 'Age discrimination in financial services: A comparative study between Italy, UK and Austria' deals with the European and Comparative law. As a researcher, she worked on projects related to temporary agencies workers, sustainable workforce, corporates and human rights. Before joining Anglia Ruskin University, she taught law at the University of Bologna, University of Bergamo (Adapt doctoral school) and Middlesex University.
Helga gained research experience in four different European countries: UK, Italy, Netherlands, and Austria. In particular, she investigated in the following fields: the European anti-discrimination law; labour law (temporary agency workers); sustainable workforce; human rights in human resource management; human rights and environmental law. Her research interests focus on multiple discrimination; Corporate Social Responsibility and Human rights; multinational corporations and vulnerable workers; demographic transition and age discrimination issues.
