Francesco’s research sits on the edge of the discourses of architecture and urbanism, with a specific interest in understanding the city through the project of some of its major public institutions. In 2013-14 he was Visiting Research Scholar at GSAPP, Columbia University. He has co-authored two books and publishes regularly on architectural journals and magazines. His current research is an investigation of the space of the university as a paradigm for understanding the modern city, and he is working on a book from his doctoral dissertation The University as Settlement Principle. The Territorialisation of Knowledge in 1970s Italy, a study of large-scale projects for higher education around 1968.
