David's responsibilities include coordinating and leading income generation and research opportunities, in partnership with other key stakeholders. He is also a principal lecturer specialising in corporate strategy and leadership.

Background

At ARU, David undertakes work internationally, including delivering guest lectures, moderation, agent representation, student recruitment events and delivery of bespoke training courses.

Before joining our University, David spent 12 years as a senior manager in the Police service. He was responsible for a range of engineering and logistics functions along with developing strategic and collaborative partnerships including the MOD, Civil Service, Secret Service and commercial entities. He also was a bronze commander for major incidents, and worked collaboratively with a range of high-level government ministries.

David has always had a great interest in research and academic development and it was during this time he completed an Honours Degree and an MBA. Both degree research dissertations delivered both cashable and non-cashable efficiency savings into the organisation. Having thoroughly enjoyed participating in and completing his MBA, he wished to continue his academic and professional development. David was awarded, by the National Policing Improvement Agency, a Bramshill PhD Research Fellowship to conduct research into a topical emerging Police-related subject.

Research interests

PhD Thesis Title: An Investigation into the Prevalence and Effects of Transcultural Relativism in Police Back Office Collaborative Ventures

David's chosen area of research interest is ameliorating the influences of organisational collaborative cultures, particularly the effects of transcultural relativism in collaborative organisational subgroups. The influences of transcultural relativism pervades through organisations and its characteristics influence the intended performance outcomes and benefits realisation plans.

Teaching

Within his current role David is also Senior Lecturer, delivering a wide range of Corporate Strategy and Leadership courses on undergraduate, postgraduate and professional accreditation programmes. He has also created and delivered a wide range of bespoke programmes for clients, both in the UK and globally.
