University alumni are encouraged to register for event in Cambridge

Former Anglia Ruskin University students can register to attend a free reunion to celebrate 25 years of university status.

The Cambridge event takes place on Saturday, 28 April, and alumni can secure their place now for a chance to catch up with old friends and share memories of their time at Anglia Ruskin or any of its previous incarnations, including: Anglia Polytechnic University; Essex Institute of Higher Education; Mid-Essex Technical College; Chelmer Institute; Cambridgeshire College of Art and Technology; and Brentwood College of Education.

Tickets are free of charge, and family and friends of former students are also welcome to accompany them to the event, which will take place at Anglia Ruskin’s Cambridge campus in East Road. The event is also open to former staff, and current Anglia Ruskin staff are also welcome to attend.

There will be several talks given during the event by Anglia Ruskin academics, which are optional to attend. Professor Viren Swami will present a discussion on the science of how we form relationships; Tony Kirby will give a history of the Cambridge School of Art; Professor Cathrine Jansson-Boyd will speak about how important the sense of touch is for retailers who want to influence consumers; and Dr Sean Lang will ask what makes a British hero.

Helen Arnott, Alumni Officer at Anglia Ruskin University, said:

“We want to see as many of you as possible get involved in some good old-fashioned nostalgia, whether it’s been just one year since you were here or rather more than you would care to remember!

“With that in mind, please contact your old friends and classmates and make sure they’re coming as well. It’s the perfect opportunity to get back in touch, to see what’s changed (or not!) and get together to relive those memories.”

Alumni are also being encouraged to contact the university with photographs, memories or stories of their student days. If you have anything you would like to see appear on display at the event, please contact [email protected]
