Families enjoy a fascinating day out at institution’s Chelmsford campus

Children and their parents flocked to Anglia Ruskin University to experience a range of fun-filled and interesting activities.

The UniFest event was created to inspire young people aged 6 to 16 by giving them the chance to take part in activities ranging from decorating cupcakes to building a roof and even surviving a zombie uprising. Through visiting the campus with its facilities, the aim was to inspire participants to consider their future with enthusiasm.

The free event took place on Saturday and more than 620 people attended with great enthusiasm and energy at Anglia Ruskin’s Rivermead campus.

Particularly popular were the junk modelling, an opportunity to “assist the surgeon” and basketball skills, where the Essex Leopards and their mascot Lenny the Leopard joined in.

Becca Jackson, Outreach and Recruitment Officer for Anglia Ruskin University, said:

“It was great to see so many smiling faces and we were thrilled with the number of people who took the opportunity to see inside their local university.
”Hopefully this event will inspire some of them to consider university as an option and we may even see them here at Anglia Ruskin within a few years.”
