In this part of the online taster, you’ll meet current practitioners at the Cardiac Department of Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.
You’ll learn more about cardiovascular physiology, what happens with a patient when visiting the Cardiac Department of the hospital, and how students work and learn in practice alongside the professionals. We’ll also show you two examples of the many tests within cardiac physiology: ECG and pacemaker checking.
Angiography: An x-ray to scan a patient’s blood vessels.
Palpitation: A condition when someone feels that his/her heart is beating too fast.
Heart murmur: Audible sound of turbulent blood flow within the heart, often sounds like a whoosh noise.
