It is well known that ultraviolet light can harm human eye. Over the recent years, harmful effect of the excessive exposure of blue-violet light on human eye is beginning to be scrutinized in detail.
Devices we use in our everyday life such as TV, computers, laptops, smart phones/tablets, and bright fluorescent lights have been known to emit blue light. Cumulative exposure to blue-violet light has been linked with the development of age-related macular degeneration.
The article authored by Professor Shahina Pardhan and Dr Raju Sapkota from VERU highlights the potential hazards of exposure to ultra and blue-violet light, and summarizes some of the commonly prescribed protective/preventative measures.
