Established in 2014, the Lord Ashcroft International Business School (LAIBS) Intern Programme is well established and embedded in the faculty.
The LAIBS Student Engagement Team were awarded a CATE Award and the Vice Chancellor’s Award in 2016 to recognise the success of the programme, how it has involved a diverse population of students and has helped build friendships, a sense of belonging and cross-campus support.
The eight month long programme commits to delivering and developing an ambitious framework of co-curricular engagement that facilitates students working as collaborators, partners and peer influencers.
The programme is underpinned by three cornerstones:
The LAIBS Intern Programme is advertised at the start of the calendar year, when you'll be invited to apply by sending us your CV and cover letter. We then select around 40 students each year to join our programme.
It was really useful to have the interview process at the beginning. I feel it helped me prepare for future employment. The training provided was really useful and I feel the skills learnt are transferable to work life
Yasemin, Intern 2015 & Senior Intern 2016
Many of our interns stay on for a second or even a third year as a senior intern, and continue to work closely with the faculty and fellow students. Senior interns are invited to observe the interview process during the recruitment round.
Many of our interns go on to secure graduate positions and credit the impact of the programme for their success.
The programme runs from March to November and we finish with the glittering Intern Award Ceremony. This annual event reflects on the year to celebrates the successes and recognise key achievements. On completion, our interns are presented with their personal reference letter from our Dean and a certificate.
