David is a registered nurse and nurse teacher and is course leader for the undergraduate adult nursing course in Essex.
David qualified as a registered nurse and worked in a range of care settings before specialising in surgery and operating theatre work. David took a joint appointment to manage the post-registration operating theatre course for a number of years and continued to work as a clinical teacher in that environment before taking up full time employment in University based nurse education.
Having undertaken a number of research based projects and published papers exploring the needs and management of specific learning difficulties David has a strong interest in this aspect of education management. A number of initiatives and tools to help support the student have subsequently been developed and have been presented in conferences worldwide. The area of health education and health promotion too have been of considerable interest with his Master’s degree specialising in this subject.
Teaching and facilitation is in relation to the pre-registration nursing course.
