On this page, you'll find answers to questions we are asked about Anglia Ruskin University graduation ceremonies in Cambridge, Chelmsford and Peterborough.
Information will be sent to your home address and student email account week commencing 24 July. It's therefore essential you keep your details up to date on e:Vision and continue to check your student email after completing your study.
You are eligible to attend a graduation ceremony if your award is confirmed between 1 October 2016 and 30 September 2017.
If your final award is not due until September, please still confirm your attendance (see further information below ‘My award is due to be confirmed in September, what should I do?’)
We need to know by 5 September if you are planning to attend. If you have not confirmed your attendance by this date, we'll assume you do not wish to attend (and your guest allocation will be made available to other graduates, subject to ceremony availability).
The 'My Graduation' tile will appear on your e:Vision account on Monday 24 July. If you follow the online process, you will be able to confirm your attendance. You will be able to do this until 5 September when booking closes.
If you would like to attend graduation you should confirm your attendance in advance of the closing date of 5 September (as detailed above). If you have not confirmed your attendance by 5 September we'll assume you do not wish to attend and your guest allocation will be made available to other graduates (subject to ceremony availability).
Your booking will be provisional, subject to your award being confirmed before the end of September 2017. If you are unsure of your Anglia Ruskin University Awards Board date, please email us at email@example.com
If your award is confirmed at the Awards Board, you will see confirmation of this at the bottom of your results page in e-Vision. An award letter and final EDS transcript will then be sent to your home address in e-vision on the Official Publication of Results date
If you have confirmed your attendance for your ceremony and your award is not confirmed as expected at your awards board, you will be notified by email that your booking is either cancelled or pending and that you should not attend unless you receive confirmation from us. The refund for any guest tickets will be processed within 30 working days of receiving our email. Refunds are made back to the card used to purchase the tickets.
If you have failed an assessment and have a reassessment opportunity in the next academic year then we would encourage you to continue to complete your intended award and look forward to seeing you in 2018. To cancel your robe hire, please contact Ede & Ravenscroft on 01223 861854.
The period between the publication of results and ceremonies is very short and there may not be time for an appeal to be resolved before the ceremony takes place. During the ceremony it is only the graduate’s name and level of the award which are announced and not the classification. The classification is not published in the ceremony programme. If your appeal is successful the University’s records will be amended and your certification will be re-issued. If the appeal is not resolved and you prefer to defer your graduation ceremony to the following year please let us know by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org

The My Graduation tile will be available to view on all eligible students e:Vision account from Monday 24 July. If you believe you should be able to see this link and cannot, please check that you are eligible to attend.
You will be unable to proceed to ‘confirm your attendance’ or buy guest tickets if you owe us money. To avoid any delays please make sure all outstanding debts have been paid by 14 July 2017.
It will take 24 hours after you've paid your debt, before you'll be able to confirm your attendance.
Following attainment of your award you'll be invited to attend your department’s allocated ceremony. Ceremonies in October 2017 are for those whose awards are confirmed between 1 October 2016 and 30 September 2017.
We do not produce invitation letters for visa purposes. However, a letter you can use to support a visa application will accompany your final transcript. For further information, please visit Visa information for non-EU students
Please email us as soon as possible if you’re are unable to attend. Some of our ceremonies maybe oversubscribed, so we’ll allocate your place to someone else.
Attendance at graduation ceremonies is not compulsory; the conferment of your award is made at the Anglia Ruskin University Awards Board and not by attending a graduation ceremony.
As this is a formal event celebrating your academic success at Anglia Ruskin University, it is preferred that graduands wear an academic robe. Please note that any robe that graduands wear must be of Anglia Ruskin University. You can hire/purchase an Anglia Ruskin University robe via our official suppliers, Ede & Ravenscroft, at least 21 days prior to your ceremony.
As a graduate you need to confirm your attendance but do not need to purchase a ticket to attend your ceremony.
Once you confirm you're attending, you'll be allocated a seat at the ceremony, a souvenir programme, a drink, gift and chocolates at the post-ceremony reception. After you confirm your place, you'll receive an email to your student email account confirming your place. Your name will be checked against a list of confirmed attendees on the day.
You'll collect your seat card on the day from the check-in desks. This will show your seat number for the ceremony and will have a tear-off section for your post-ceremony reception.
Guest tickets are priced at £25 per ticket including VAT. Guest tickets are used for entry to the ceremony and the post-ceremony reception, where you will receive a complimentary drink, gift and chocolates. Your guest ticket will also include a souvenir programme on arrival to the ceremony.
Between 24 July and 5 September you are able to purchase up to three guest tickets per graduate.
Guest tickets will be on sale from 24 July to 5 September 2017 via e:Vision. If you don't purchase guest tickets between these dates we'll assume that you don't wish to purchase any guest tickets and your guest allocation will be made available to other students.
On 6 September we will publish which ceremonies have guest tickets available and on 7 September we will re-open the online booking via the My Graduation tile on eVision. Additional tickets are purchased on a first come, first served basis (still priced at £25) and the online booking will be available until the ceremony is full or 26 September.
Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee to have additional guest tickets available for every ceremony. If you are unable to secure ceremony tickets for all of your guests they are still able to join you for the build-up (including the photography and gowning) and they will be able to watch the ceremony via a live stream to various areas near the ceremony venue, which will be signposted on the day. We are not able to keep a waiting list or make special exceptions for guest tickets.
You will collect your guest tickets from the check-in desk on the day of your ceremony. Details about the location of the check-in desks will soon be available. Please note, guest tickets are not transferable between graduates. You will be asked to present your ticket confirmation receipt (printed from eVision) on collection of your tickets.
Graduands are seated separately to guests. This is because our graduands are seated in the correct order to cross the stage after their name is read out. Each row will be directed to the stage at the correct time by our Conferment staff.
Guest tickets do not have allocated seat numbers, so your guests will be directed to the best available seats on the day. If your guests arrive late or separately, we may not be able to seat them together.
If you, or any of your guests, have any special seating requirements, these can be noted at the time of purchasing tickets and we will endeavour to accommodate you.
Once the ceremony has started guests are requested to remain in their seats so they do not disturb the ceremony.
We appreciate that your graduation is a family celebration and whilst children are most welcome to attend experience has shown they can become bored and restless during ceremonies, however we understand it is not always possible to make alternative childcare arrangements. Children under the age of 5 may enter free of charge but are required to sit on the lap of the accompanying adult. Children aged five and above must have their own ticket and seat. There are no concessions for children. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult; please note that children cannot be seated with the graduand. Buggies and seat carriers are not permitted in ceremony venues, due to space restrictions. These items can be left in a designated unsupervised area at the owner's risk.
If you wish to cancel any (or all) of your guest tickets please do so before 5 September 2017. Requests for refunds received after the deadline will be considered on a case-by-case basis. For students who do not achieve their award in time for the ceremony, refunds for guest tickets will be granted or tickets can be transferred to the next appropriate ceremony (2018).

Certificates for awards conferred between October 2016 and April 2017 have been sent to the home address on e:Vision. If you have not received your certificate or transcript contact us firstname.lastname@example.org
For awards conferred in July or September 2017, you will be able to collect your certificate on the day of your graduation. If you choose not to attend graduation the certificate will be sent to your home address on e:Vision shortly after all our ceremonies have taken place.
Certificates for graduates of Arden University, and LSC Group of Colleges will be sent directly to the partner institution for distribution and therefore will not be available to collect on graduation day.
If are expecting your certificate and you've not received it, please check that you have no outstanding debts and that your home address is correct on e:Vision as Royal Mail may have returned your certificate to us. Please email email@example.com for more information.
Graduation prizes will be announced at the same time as your award is announced. Your Faculty will arrange a prize-giving event either before or after your graduation ceremony.
We do not announce classification at our graduation ceremonies. The Dean will announce what level of award you will receive – For the award of Bachelor of Science with Honours (for example)
The name read out at the ceremony will be your full, official name which also appears on your award certificate and the ceremony programme. However, if your name is long or difficult to pronounce you will be given the opportunity to provide notes to assist the reader, or you can ask for a shortened version of your name to be read out as you cross the stage.
