Ecosystems and Human Wellbeing

The aim of this research theme is to explore the complex interactions between ecosystems and humans in order to meet biodiversity conservation targets, increase climate change adaptation and improve human well being.

Contributions of this research theme focus on:

  • Development of new theoretical paradigms that will assist in the better understanding of the links between ecosystems and local communities
  • Explore new and innovative ways to assess empirically the complex interactions of socio-ecological systems
  • Use empirical and theoretical contributions in order to inform policy making processes

Members of the research theme work closely with the Education for Sustainability group and contribute to teaching activities of the MSc Sustainability.
